About Rebecca

Creative Vision

Rebecca Cojan is a pianist whose relentless pursuit of authentic expression has led her to the belief that art cannot exist apart from generosity. Treating her craftsmanship as a calling, rather than a mere profession, Rebecca endeavors to open up the world of classical music to people of all ages and walks of life. Her work is the result of a stubborn, steadfast belief in music as a unifying human experience.

Artistic Approach

Inspired by her passion for language and literature, Rebecca prefers to approach music from an exegetic perspective first. She believes that using research to understand music within its cultural and historical context can deepen the subjective art of interpretation. This approach does not threaten the intimate character of a performance, but rather attempts to decode and explore as closely as possible the universe of meaning intended by a composer, further conveying it to the audience with conviction and vulnerability.

Rebecca's mission is to emphasize the power of music as a universal language, allowing its fluency to permeate every human context and experience.

Addicted to the adrenaline of live performance, Rebecca started her career as a soloist at a tender age, which only boosted her familiarity with the stage. Despite the introspective nature of her art, she embraces the challenge of interpretation with fierce passion and honesty, which she hopes transcend all other aspects of her art.

Rebecca aims to equip students of all ages for the challenges of the field, whether technical, interpretative, managerial, or psychological. Most of all, her goal is to see authenticity seep into their career as the most riveting expression of courage and compassion.

Rebecca's collaborative and chamber music experience includes performances with various ensembles, spanning multiple styles and genres of music. She is currently an accompanist and Opera Accompanying Graduate Assistant at the Peabody Conservatory.
